Art partnership at the Red Shield Center – Thomasville

On Friday, March 13, 2026, Black Butterfly Network, in partnership with our friends at Arts Davidson County and Anything For Our Youth Group, had the privilege of visiting the Red Shield Youth Center in Thomasville, where we engaged with approximately 80 school-aged youth for an inspiring and creative art experience. The focus of the session was strengthening drawing techniques while encouraging self-expression through a variety of art supplies. One of the highlights of the day was the creation of artist trading cards—small, personal works of art that sparked creativity, storytelling, and connection. These cards became more than just art pieces; they opened the door for meaningful conversations, boosted confidence, and allowed students to share pieces of who they are in a fun and engaging way.Throughout the session, the energy in the room was vibrant. Youth supported one another, explored new artistic skills, and embraced the freedom to create without limits. Moments like these remind us how powerful art can be in building relationships, enhancing communication, and providing a positive outlet for expression. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and extend a special thank you to the Thomasville Community Foundation for their generous grant funding, which made this project possible. Because of this support, we are able to continue creating safe, enriching spaces where our youth can grow, connect, and thrive.Together, we remain committed to keeping art alive, accessible, and impactful in our community—one young artist at a time.
