What an AMAZING day at our 7th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Family Celebration! ❤️🖤💚💛

On Friday, June 19, 2026, our vision for the Youth Artist Studio came to life as youth and families gathered to celebrate freedom, history, culture, creativity, and community.

We were serenaded by the incredible musical talents of Ken Davis and Kenneth Keesee while creating beautiful artwork together.

We were honored to hear a powerful and educational presentation from Mr. Tyrone Terry, who shared local African American history, including stories about segregation in schools, pools, businesses, and stores throughout our community. He also highlighted the history of the State Street formerly enslaved gravesite and the significance of the new memorial honoring those individuals.

Our hearts were filled with pride as the youth of Anything For Our Youth Group took the stage and delivered a wonderful dance performance.

We were also deeply honored to receive and present three Juneteenth Proclamations recognizing this important celebration from the City of Lexington Government, the City of Thomasville, and Governor Josh Stein.

A special thank you to everyone who attended and celebrated Juneteenth with us. Your presence helped make this event a true reflection of unity, education, and community engagement.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mayor Jason Hayes and Councilman Keith Curry for stopping by to celebrate with the community and show their support.

We are grateful for our community partners: Save Our Babies of Thomasville, Arts Davidson County, and Black Butterfly Network Lexington.

Thank you to our sponsors, Lexington Utilities, Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, and Walmart Supercenter Lexington, for helping make this event possible.

We also appreciate our local small business vendors and the Davidson-Davie Community College Information Bus for joining us and sharing valuable resources with attendees.

Be on the lookout for coverage of today’s celebration on WGHP FOX8 and WXII 12 News, both of whom visited and conducted interviews during the event.

Today was more than a celebration, it was a day of unity, education, remembrance, creativity, and community pride. Thank you to everyone who helped make our 7th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Family Celebration such a tremendous success!#Juneteenth #FreedomFamilyCelebration #YouthArtistStudio #AnythingForOurYouthGroup #CommunityUnity #BlackHistory #DavidsonCounty #CelebrateFreedom
